Dear Sangha Family,
Warm greetings to each of you. We are so grateful at Insight Community of the Desert to be a source of refuge for many. Equally appreciated is the continuity of your individual presence in the sangha, for without you there is no community.
Since March 15th we have experienced the strength and comfort of our sangha virtually. Our teachers have been providing meditation, dharma talks, and special weekly programs to support us as we navigate through these challenging times. While it is not the same as when we were gathering in our beautiful Center, we are adjusting to these new ways of being together. Deep bows of gratitude to our willing and creative teachers for their commitment to respond so compassionately. Deep bows to you for your generosity of spirit and dana.
Members of the ICD Board are meeting weekly to review and discuss our financials and program offerings in this new reality. We are staying informed of the ever-changing guidance from our state and local government leaders. We are weighing their directions alongside our mission and core values. We wish to offer the teachings and practices in as inclusive a manner as possible while providing for the care, well-being, and safety of our members. With that in mind, we will refrain from holding in-person gatherings at our center through at least October 1, 2020. Our online sangha and schedule will of course continue, and we’re looking at even more ways to connect.
Please know we are all missing you very much. These are difficult times with equally difficult decisions to make. We reach deep into the Dharma and our practices for the wisdom that guides us as we seek to serve the sangha in the most compassionate and mindful ways.
May each of you and your dear ones be safe, protected, and free from suffering. We are here, and we care.
Your Board of Directors,
