SUMMARY:Daylong: The Joy of Letting Go with Mary Stancavage
DESCRIPTION:The Buddha said we suffer because we cling and if we could let go\, we would have peace. However\, this is more easily said than done. How do we let go of those fixed ideas and habits of mind? How do we even recognize where we are stuck? \nThis day will offer the opportunity to see where you really hold on and how this practice can support the freedom of letting go with movement toward clarity\, wisdom and compassion. \nThere will be dharma\, sitting and walking meditation and conversation. The day is suitable for everyone. \nDetails:  Zoom access will also be available for out of town sangha\, and others not able to attend in person.  They will receive the zoom link in the confirmation email. \nIn-person participants will meet at Unitarian Universalist Church of the Desert (UUCOD). The facility requires that all who enter are vaccinated. If you have not shown proof of vaccination before\, please be prepared to show it at the door. We would also like to remind you to bring your own lunch. \nCost: $45\, please pay at the door with cash or check. We never turn people away for lack of funds.  Please contact events@desertinsight.org if you need a partial or full scholarship. \nDana: Please consider giving a donation to support the work of the teacher in preparing and presenting this daylong and for the cost incurred in renting the facility. Place your dana in the basket basket by the door or give at the DONATE button at desertinsight.org \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Mary Stancavage has practiced meditation\, yoga\, and cultivated a spiritual practice for over 30 years and in 2009 was empowered to teach Buddhadharma. SUMMARY:Daylong: The Heart at Home. Loving what is
DESCRIPTION:Daylong with Ian Challis\nJoin us at our first in-person Daylong in 2 years!!!\n(Zoom access will also be available for out of town sangha\, and others not able to attend in person) \nMettā is the energy and practice of love\, it offers us a way of being with the unfoldings of life that is kind\, intimate\, and wise. Life is asking us to be present with sensitivity and care. \nIn this world so in need of love\, the beautiful Buddhist practices of mettā\, karunā (compassion)\, muditā (appreciative joy)\, and upekkhā (equanimity) offer us a time-tested\, effective means to bring more of these healing qualities into our experience and the world we share. \nTogether\, we will explore these powerful energies by actually practicing with meditations that are designed to support and evoke them. Over the course of our time together we’ll explore each of the brahmaviharas with time for questions and reflection. \nThis event is appropriate for all levels of practice\, all that is needed is curiosity and your presence! \nIn-person Participants will meet at Unitarian Universalist Church of the Desert (UUCOD). The facility requires that all who enter are vaccinated. If you have not shown proof of vaccination before\, please be prepared to show it at the door.
