Do you want to understand what is at the core of racist rhetoric and behavior? Are you interested in the issue of homophobia in communities of color? \n\n\n\nWe’d like to invite you to a three-part series in which those and other related issues will be discussed. The facilitator\, Lauren N. Nile\, who is African American\, has requested that the course be open to only those who identify as a person of color. She believes that affinity groups of those who identify as people of color provide the safe\, non-judgmental environment necessary to dialog about issues of race and racism in American society-at-large\, and homophobia in communities of color. \n\n\n\nThe goal of the series is twofold: \n\n\n\nTo offer information on the very core of race and racism; and\,To provide a safe environment in which people of color of all sexual orientations\, gender identities\, and gender expressions may dialogue in a safe\, non-judgmental environment about racism and homophobia in communities of color. It is hoped that in the process\, participants may increase awareness of whatever personal unconscious biases they may hold about both their own and other marginalized groups.\n\n\n\nThe race and racism issues presented in the session focus on the experience of several groups in the United States\, Native Americans\, Latinx Americans\, Asian Americans\, African Americans\, and Muslim Americans.
