DESCRIPTION:Finding Steadiness Amid Life’s Changing Conditions\nA two-day non-residential retreat with Valerie Cusson\, Roshi David (Jōkai)\, Mary Stancavage\, and Ian Challis\nGain and loss\, fame and obscurity\, praise and blame\, pleasure and pain are all experienced as the weather of a human life. Learning to stand in that weather without being blown over is what our practice offers. \nIt can be so easy to feel overwhelmed today—because of what’s happening in the world\, in our personal lives\, or both. We are pushed and pulled\, seemingly beyond our control\, by the forces the Buddha called the Eight Worldly Winds. His teachings offer a path toward equanimity as a skillful response. \n\n\n    Registration opening soon\n    Online registration for the retreat will be available shortly.\n   \n\nAbout the Retreat\nOctober 30–31 · 9 a.m.–4 p.m. each day \nIn this two-day\, non-residential retreat\, you will have the opportunity to pause and recognize which winds may be pulling you from the steadiness of this moment—and begin cultivating the capacity to simply be. This is not a practice of spiritual bypass\, but one of deep intimacy with our experience. \nTaking time to practice on retreat is a gift to yourself\, and this non-residential format makes that gift a little more accessible. The retreat is suitable for experienced practitioners as well as those new to retreats or meditation practice. The program will include dharma talks\, sitting and walking meditation\, movement\, and opportunities to connect meaningfully with one another. \nThe two-day format offers a wonderful opportunity to deepen your practice. Although we recommend attending both days\, you are welcome to attend Friday or Saturday alone if your schedule prevents you from joining us for both. \nThere will be a silent lunch period each day. Please bring a brown-bag lunch; a refrigerator will be available. \nPricing\nRetreat registration is offered on a sliding scale. Please select the rate that best fits your circumstances. The Sustaining rate helps make the Supported rate and scholarships available to others.
