We’ve usually developed coping mechanisms\, but these may not always be the most skillful or beneficial means of facing our challenges. The Buddha offers a wise and compassionate way to turn towards our experience with kindness rather than with aversion. \nEach Sunday during the month of August\, our teachers will explore how to work with different emotions and mind states that we may find hard to be with. These will include shame\, regret\, grief\, loss\, love\, hatred\, sadness\, and joy among others. SUMMARY:Daylong:  The Joy of Letting Go with Mary Stancavage
DESCRIPTION:The Buddha said we suffer because we cling and if we could let go\, we would have peace. However\, this is more easily said than done. How do we let go of those fixed ideas and habits of mind? How do we even recognize where we are stuck? \nThis day will offer the opportunity to see where you really hold on and how this practice can support the freedom of letting go with movement toward clarity\, wisdom and compassion. \nThere will be dharma\, sitting and walking meditation and conversation. The day is suitable for everyone. \nDetails:  Zoom access will also be available for out of town sangha\, and others not able to attend in person.  They will receive the zoom link in the confirmation email. \nIn-person participants will meet at Unitarian Universalist Church of the Desert (UUCOD). The facility requires that all who enter are vaccinated. If you have not shown proof of vaccination before\, please be prepared to show it at the door. DESCRIPTION:This hybrid Sunday Meditation and Dharma Talk will be held simultaneously in-person and live online from 4:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. \nInsight Community of the Desert will once again be able to experience the gifts of sangha through in-person practice and teaching. Upcoming in-person events will be held at Unitarian Universalist Church of the Desert in Rancho Mirage.\n\n \nWe will meet every Sunday at our previous time slot of 4:30 p.m. We will meet both online and in person. Join us whichever way you feel most comfortable. DESCRIPTION:This hybrid Sunday Meditation and Dharma Talk will be held simultaneously in-person and live online from 4:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. \nBeginning on May 15th\, continuing on May 22nd\, and concluding on May 29th\, the Sunday topics will be The Three Jewels of Buddha\, Dharma and Sangha. \nBuddha (awakened one)\, Dharma (teachings)\, and Sangha (community)\, are the three jewels that support our awakened life\, together forming a refuge of living practice. How do we manifest these ancient teachings with ever more meaningful expression? \nOur practice of meditation cultivates the realization of awakening.
